Janan Siam’s work aims to explore the depths to which philosophy and physics merge beyond the measure of scientific experimentation and more in a personal metaphysical appointment. She is interested in taking these characteristics of human existence–perception, experience, and memory–and applying them specifically to personal experience as a means to self-analyze and evaluate. Through a time-based medium such as video art, Siam can attempt to bridge the gap between record and real life. Her paintings tackle various social and political issues, including critiques of consumer culture and celebrity worship.
Siam was born in 1987 in Austin, Texas and born as an artist in 2010 in Dallas, Texas. As an honors graduate from the University of Texas at Dallas, Siam is pursuing her MFA while working with Solvent. Siam’s work exhibited throughout the Dallas area 2010-2011, and continues to show across Texas.
